ASCORBYL GLUCOSIDE
Ascorbyl glucoside is a vitamin C derivative that is preferred in skincare products due to its increased stability compared to ascorbic acid (vitamin C). In addition to its skin-protecting function due to its antioxidant activity, ascorbyl glucoside can also be used as a skin-lightening ingredient in cosmetics. (1,2)
In an in-vitro study, the photoprotective effect against ultraviolet (UV) light was investigated. The results suggest that the vitamin C derivative can prevent damage from UVB radiation by partially trapping reactive oxygen species (ROS). (3)
