MULTIFUNCTIONALITY
Retinal works in various ways: it reduces signs of skin aging, promotes skin elasticity, optimizes skin texture, and simultaneously has a pore-clearing effect that combats/reduces impurities.
‘WELL-AGING’ COMPLEX
The evidence-based retinal concentration combined with 5 peptides gives the formulation its 'well-aging' properties. Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 and Copper Tripeptide-1 provide moisture to the skin and actively stimulate collagen synthesis at the same time.
DECREASED STIMULUS POTENTIAL
To proactively counteract potential irritants of retinal, the serum was enriched with a ceramide complex to strengthen the skin barrier, ectoin, allantoin, as well as skin-soothing pre- and postbiotics. This preventive approach in the form of the mentioned active ingredients ensures that the positive effects of retinal can be realized without unwanted side effects.
HIGH STABILITY
Retinal, used here as an active ingredient encapsulated in liposomes, guarantees higher stability in the formulation and improves the skin penetration of the serum.
STRENGTHENING THE SKIN BARRIER
The skin's own ingredients such as ceramides, cholesterol, phytosphingosine, and squalane in the serums help to strengthen the skin barrier and simultaneously reduce transepidermal water loss.
Retinoids
RETINAL VS. RETINOL
The choice between retinal and retinol, both derivatives of the active ingredient vitamin A, depends on individual skin needs and goals as well as the concentration used. Retinoids, which include retinol and retinal, are chemical compounds derived from vitamin A. Retinol and retinal are the most well-known representatives of this group. These substances differ in their chemical structure as well as in their application in dermatology and skincare.
Retinal is a particularly effective form of vitamin A. It has high efficacy while being well tolerated. The active ingredient only requires one conversion step to transition into its active form, vitamin A acid. This makes it a popular well-aging active ingredient that shows significant effects in the treatment of wrinkles, skin roughness, and water loss.
Retinol, another form of vitamin A, requires two conversion steps compared to retinal to transition into its active form, retinoic acid. In recent years, retinol has experienced a real hype as an anti-aging active ingredient and shows positive effects such as stimulating the skin's own cell renewal, promoting collagen production, and balancing the skin's texture
The distinction between retinal and retinol is mainly in their effectiveness, with retinal considered the more potent substance. Even at low concentrations of 0.05%, it can stimulate collagen production and be better tolerated than retinol. Retinal and retinol have similar benefits, such as improving skin elasticity and reducing wrinkles, with retinal generally being better tolerated and, especially in encapsulated form, even more stable and effective.
ABSOLUTE A
Solltest du noch nie zuvor ein retinalhaltiges Produkt verwendet haben, beginne mit dem Absolute A Retinal Serum. Dieses enthält eine geringe Konzentration von 0,05% Retinal.
ABSOLUTE A+
Konnte sich deine Haut bereits an die Benutzung von Retinal gewöhnen, verwende gerne das höher konzentrierte Absolute A+ Retinal Serum. Das Serum ist mit einem Retinalgehalt von 0,1% höher konzentriert.
FAQ
The basic routine we recommend is as follows: Cleanse, Prepare, TREAT, Moisturize. TREAT initially stands for the Absolute A Series, further products will follow. To minimize skin irritation, the retinal sandwich method can be applied: For this, after cleansing with the Ten out of Ten Cleanser, apply the Barrier Boost Cream, followed by the Absolute A/A+ Serum, and finally a thin layer of Barrier Boost CPA Barrier Repair Cream.
No, it is not recommended to use products with retinoids during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The use of products containing retinoids can be problematic during this time, as excessive amounts of vitamin A can be harmful to the unborn child or the breastfed baby.
The most important for the effect is the regular use of the product. The frequency can be cautiously and gradually increased, depending on skin adaptation, from once a week to daily use.
We have placed special emphasis on minimizing the irritation potential of retinal in our formulation by adding soothing and nourishing ingredients such as 10% pre- and postbiotics, ceramides, 5 different peptides, and ectoin. These ingredients are carefully selected to strengthen the skin barrier and improve the tolerability of retinal.
Should unwanted reactions such as dryness or skin irritation occur, the frequency of product use can be reduced. For example, it may be considered to use the product only every second or third evening. This allows the skin to gradually get used to the product and minimizes the risk of irritation.
If you already have experience with retinoids (e.g., retinol/retinal) and use them regularly without irritation, Absolute A+ is the right serum for you. Important to note: 0.1% retinal is approximately equivalent to the effect of 1% retinol, so it's best to start with a low application frequency!
We recommend using the products of the Absolute A series alternately with chemical peels and not on the same evening. Ideally, you should use the chemical peel in the evening before the retinal and take a break from active ingredients in the following days.
Yes, in skincare, Vitamin C and Vitamin A can be combined. For example, a vitamin C product can be applied under sunscreen in the morning and vitamin A in the evening. Here too, attention must be paid to one's own skin sensation and the concentration used, as vitamin C, e.g., in the form of ascorbic acid, can also have an irritating effect. Don't forget: Sunscreen (ideally SPF 50) during the day is mandatory when using Vitamin C and Vitamin A.
The Absolute A Series can also be used in summer. In this context, it is particularly important to ensure adequate sun protection (ideally at least SPF 50) during the day. If necessary, the application frequency can be reduced in the summer.
