ECTOIN

Ectoin is a very special amino acid produced by bacteria that can survive under extreme environmental conditions such as severe dryness, UV radiation, or high salt concentrations. This ability of stress protection can also be used for the skin.

On the one hand, Ectoin has an anti-inflammatory and soothing effect on the skin and increases skin resistance. (1) (2) Additionally, Ectoin provides particularly effective moisture by minimizing transepidermal water loss, thereby preventing the drying out of the epidermis. (2)

Ectoin in a care cream can improve parameters of skin aging such as skin moisture, skin elasticity, or skin surface structure. (3) In cell studies, Ectoin was even able to counteract UVA-induced skin aging at different cellular levels. (3) (4)
